Center for Compassion is a female, grieving, queer owned and operated business.

As a practice that primarily serves clients in the state of Arizona, we acknowledge the 22 Native Nations of Arizona, to whom these lands have belonged to for centuries. Center for Compassion acknowledges that the lands on which our practice resides in Chandler, Arizona is on occupied land, and was originally inhabited by Hohokam, O’odham Jewed, and Akimel O’odham (Upper Pima) peoples before their genocide, stolen forced assimilation, labor, and removal from their ancestral lands. We recognize the Native peoples of these lands and invite all to consider supporting Indigenous communities and the fight for Indigenous racial justice. This land continues to be spiritually connected to the O’Odham of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and Gila River Indian Community. We celebrate the resilience and the contributions of the Indigenous people, and respect their sovereignty and right to self-determination.

We recognize that the systems in place that have enforced the current “reservations” for native people are harmful to not only these peoples, but all people, non-living organisms, and the land at large. We stand in solidarity with these tribes in their current work towards land reclamation, dismantling these systems, building up the strength and resilience of their communities, and holding onto their cultures, traditions, and languages (all which have been assaulted by violent and oppressive colonial systems and institutions).
